October 17-30, 2020

An Intimate Pilgrimage Honoring the Eagle and Condor Prophecy

Co-sponsored by Kenosis and Kenosis Spirit Keepers.

A portion of tuition is tax-deductible.

Cancelled due to COVID-19. Watch for Fall 2021.

You are invited to step outside time and enter a deeper reality! Experience magic in the traditions, peoples and lands of Bolivia and Peru guided by spiritual mentor Carla Woody, as we bring together esteemed Wisdom Keepers of the Americas. It is a privilege to sponsor such a special journey—a rare opportunity unlikely to be found on your own— engaging with spiritual leaders and healers who serve their people.

Now is the time for an intimate gathering…a healing pilgrimage…a renewal. Through your tuition and private donations we have invited a Quechua paq’o—traditional mystic, healer, diviner—of Peru to join us and engage with the Aymara spiritual leader of his village on the Island of the Sun, Bolivia. A Native North American Spirit Keeper travels with us along their own ancient migration path to reconnect with relations and their origins. We finally culminate in the high altitude village of Ccochamocco of the Q’ero Nation. It is a deep honor to sit in circle, engage in ceremony, touch the elemental spirits and learn through immersion in the sacred ways of the peoples of the eagle and condor.

Join with us as we travel to power places the average visitor never sees and enter the world of Andean healing and spirituality. Set your intent to connect with the Cosmos… the Pachamama… with the spirits of the mountains… the rivers… with the light of the stars… then bring these energies home to inform your everyday life.

Lake Titicaca Bolivia

Our journey takes us to ancient sacred sites of the Inka and Pre-Inka in Bolivia and Peru as we enter into a relationship with the land and its inherent energy. We explore hidden areas in and around La Paz and Lake Titicaca in Bolivia, Puno and Cusco Regions of Peru — sacred sites, natural and human-made, some known only to the Indigenous people who frequent them. We lay down our prayers through sacred ritual and meditation to discover what is resident.

Temple of the Sun

Our pilgrimage begins in Bolivia at the site near Lake Titicaca that Viracocha, the Andean Creator God, declared to be the Creation Place. We experience the Islands of the Sun and Moon where Inka priests and priestesses were sequestered and immersed in esoteric ceremonies and teachings integral to their calling. We replicate the search of Manco Capac and Mama Ocllo, the First Couple, as they seek the site for a holy city, and move from Bolivia into Puno—a land of portals, stone guardians frozen in time, high ceremonial mesas and temples. Along the way we hold possible that the legends of Atlantis and Lemuria were indeed real in these places, and elements remain still. In Cusco, or Qosqo, we discover why Viracocha declared it to be the navel of the world and the First Couple built a sacred city to the sun.

In this path that has brought us to Cusco, we come to Xapiri and learn of their work with Indigenous groups spread across the Amazon. Thus, we are then poised for the culmination of our pilgrimage — in the Q’ero village of Ccochamocco. After a final ceremonial sharing, learning medicine ways and being in community we return to Cusco to integrate the initiation journey we’ve just undertaken — before emerging for re-entry home. Such intimate connections open the heart and never leave us.

This is a journey of ayni — sacred reciprocity. We will sit in ceremony of all these traditions, become an allyu — spiritual community — honoring all that sustains the planet and our own well-being. We come together with blessings, prayers and share the daily activities of all pilgrims.

Sponsorships and Donations

These sponsorships funded through your tuition and private donations are tax-deductible.

Spirit Keepers Journeys: Since 2007 Indigenous Spirit Keepers of the Americas have been traveling with us during our spiritual travel programs in Peru, Bolivia, Guatemala, Mexico and the US. Kenosis Spirit Keepers, as the nonprofit extension of Kenosis, provides Indigenous “bridge builders” in the Americas, who have shared interests, parallel traditions or overlapping geographic roots, ways to connect with each other on an intimate, small group level. Through these interchanges it is our intent that Indigenous traditions are strengthened and sustained.

Sponsored Indigenous guests for the 2020 program in Bolivia and Peru:

Doña Vilma Pinedo, respected Quechua healer and teacher from Peru, has accepted our invitation to join us in Bolivia as a sponsored guest. She will continue to travel with us extending through Puno and finally to Cusco as a spiritual guide on Peruvian sacred lands. See her detailed bio in the Program Guides section below.

Our Native North American guest is TBD. Check back for more information.

Preserving Traditions in the Amazon: We have begun a collaboration with Xapiri,  an art gallery and cultural platform dedicated to supporting Indigenous communities in the Amazon. They focus on the intersection of art, culture and economic opportunity to bolster the cultural integrity of Indigenous communities. Based in Cusco, Peru, they work with 10 ethnic groups spread across the Amazon.

Keeping Traditions in Hatun Q’eros: Designated funding efforts are named on a year-by-year basis to support such activities that are undertaken by the Hatun Q’ero community in an effort to protect their ancient Inka culture and increase wellbeing. Support may be in such areas as weaving, agricultural, healing and spiritual traditions to continue stewardship of their past, present and future.

Specific support area is TBD. Check back for more information.

Program Guides

Carla Woody, MA, CHT… author of Portals to the Vision Serpent, Standing Stark and Calling Our Spirits Home, plus numerous articles on spirituality and advocacy of Native traditions. She has been mentoring people for more than twenty years. In 1999, Carla established Kenosis LLC to support human potential through spiritual travel journeys with Indigenous leaders, and programs integrating Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) and world mythologies. Carla credits Peruvian mystic Don Américo Yábar with introducing her to the teachings of the Andes in 1994 where she has remained immersed. She has many years’ direct experience with the Quechua and Q’ero people of Peru, the Maya people of Mexico and Guatemala, and the Hopi people of northern Arizona, as well other Indigenous peoples. Carla founded Kenosis Spirit Keepers, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, in 2007 to help preserve Indigenous wisdom ways threatened with decimation.

Q'ero image

My relationship with Q’ero paqo’s began in 1996 with my first trip to Peru working with spiritual teacher Don Américo Yábar. Even though Q’ero friends and I don’t speak the same tongue, over the years the language of the heart has prevailed. We’ve shared ceremonies, and Q’ero spiritual leaders often travel with us — something so special. Through the generosity of donors, Kenosis Spirit Keepers has continued to help support the well-being of the community. And our visits to the village of Ccochamocco create an even stronger bond with these beautiful people, holders of their fragile traditions.

— Carla Woody

The Q’ero are known as the Keepers of the Ancient Knowledge and call themselves the children of Inkari, the first Inka. They live in isolation at 14,000 feet in the Andes, as they have for hundreds of years after the conquistadors came, preserving their ancient mystical traditions. They are one of the most untouched by Western culture of Indigenous peoples in the Americas. From them we learn about pachacuti — stepping outside of time — and living in ayni, sacred reciprocity.

Vilma Pinedo imageDoña Vilma Pinedo was born into a long lineage of respected Quechua paqo’s on both her mother’s and father’s side. She was marked for that destiny herself when her mother was struck by lightning while pregnant with Vilma. She grew up surrounded by Masters; she was their apprentice. At the age of 12 she formally took the path of the healer and considers the Condor, spirit of the Upper World, her protector. Dispensing guidance through dreams, divination from Mama Coca and ritual, she seeks to heal and raise awareness. Doña Vilma is greatly respected as a healer with heart, unusual for one still young. Such acknowledgement brought her an invitation to accompany the Dalai Lama on his journey to Machu Picchu.

Additional Information

We believe in ayni, the sacred sense of reciprocity practiced in the Andes. Your tuition includes a financial contribution to support the welfare of the Quechua and Q’ero people with whom we engage, as well as other Native traditions. For this year’s Peru program, your donation goes to support:

  • Sponsorship of one Native North American to travel on this program and support spiritual renewal and relationship-building. For more on Spirit Keepers Journeys, go here.
    • Designated funding efforts are named on a year-by-year basis to support such activities that are undertaken by the Q’ero community in an effort to protect their ancient culture and increase well-being. Support from the 2020 Heart of the Andes program will benefit Hatun Q’ero weavers’ representation at the International Folk Art Market in Santa Fe, NM. For more on community-building programs, go here.
  • Designation to Xapiri to support ethnic groups of the Amazon where needed most.

Automatic donations from tuitions for Spiritual Travel Programs are forwarded to Kenosis Spirit Keepers, the nonprofit arm of Kenosis LLC, in order to give back to traditional Indigenous spiritual leaders, healers and communities who hold the fragile threads of their sacred ways. We fully believe: If these traditions continue to die, we all lose.
